Hemispheric Glass Bead

Smith’s Glass Beads are a round, solid
hemispherical glass bead which can be added to any film
forming topcoat to achieve a mild slip resistant film which is
easier to sweep and mop vs. traditional non-slip grits. Due to
its composition, Smith’s Glass Beads will not absorb, expand
or dissolve in oil, solvent or water-based systems.
Due to specific gravity, Smith’s Glass Beads requires agitation
to remain evenly suspended in low viscosity coatings. Yields a
mild to moderate texture to improve traction in a new topcoat.
Mock-ups are important to determine the appropriate amount
necessary as well as to ensure satisfaction and desired
appearance.

Smith’s Glass Beads are available in 3 blend sizes:
 Fine - 50/70 Mesh for light traction in dry environments
 Mild - 40/70 Mesh for flat surfaces in typical foot traffic
environments such as showrooms
 Course - 20/30 Mesh for areas exposed to water or
sloped areas which required greater traction

RECOMMENDED USE: Traction additive for resinous
topcoats or sealers on relatively smooth horizontal surfaces.
Primary used for decorative concrete and Metallic floor
coatings as well as a traction additive in topcoats over resinous
floor coatings used in residential, commercial or light industrial
(i.e. warehouses with light pallet jack traffic) environments.
